CHARITY MATCH
REDFEARN AC V YORKSHIRE TYKES
TYKES MAKE IT THREE IN A ROW
Redfearn Angling Club held their first match of the 2006 season on
Saturday 1st April 2006 at Lindholme Lake Fisheries.
This was the first of two charity matches scheduled against the
Yorkshire Tykes with all the proceeds going to the Barnsley Branches for
the Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s Society in aid of the Mayors Charity .
It was an excellent turnout with 60 Anglers present for the draw.
Fishing the 85 Peg Bonsai Lake at Lindholme all anglers were keen to
get set up before the bad weather set in for the day.
The weather was not the best for fishing with very strong winds and
heavy showers through out the day.
The weather forced many Anglers to fish the feeder to the many
Islands on the lake.
With the ever changing strong winds those on the pole were going to
have a hard time of it.
The match proved very hard with the poor weather conditions not
helping. The Tykes again started well with many of their Anglers getting
into some of the venues good Tench, The Odd carp was showing
occasionally but many were settling for the silver fish and Small Carp.
C Jones of Redfearn was into some good fish and was enjoying some
good sport fishing from peg one. But G Norris and S Holvey from the
Tykes was keeping pace with him and not letting him run away with it.
Heather Millerchip a last minute stand in for Redfearn was holding
her own in her section, Fishing the Pole for the first time and was
catching at a steady rate with nervous glances being cast in her
direction from the Anglers pegged either side of her.
With time called it looked clear that the Tykes had made it three in
a row but just how close the final positions would be remained to be
seen. Had C Jones done enough to hold off the challengers to take
first place and could Heather Millerchip have caused some embarrassment
to regular anglers.
The results were
- C Jones (Redfearn AC) 23Lb 12oz
- G Norris (Tykes) 22Lb 04oz
- S Holvey (Tykes) 20.00Lb
- G Clark (Tykes) 19.12oz
Section wins for
Yorkshire Tykes 757 Pts
Redfearn AC 1052 Pts
Note Heather Millerchip fishing for the first time finished 22nd
out of 60 Anglers
5th in section well done Heather, Redfearn Anglers can
relax - I don’t think Heather wants to take up Match Fishing just yet?
