Match Summaries

The tenth (random pairs) match of 2026 has been fished at the Oaks lakes on the Ash and Beech lakes.  Warm 24C+, sunny spells and some cloud at times, breezy but trees stop wind getting to the lakes. Very good fishing all round, somewhat difficult at times when the fish come to the surface when your fishing on the bottom, leading to foul hookers! The near-sides are becoming undercut and the fish dart straight through the snags followed by trashed rigs! Most caught close in on either pellets or meat.

Congratulations to the Pairs Winners:

Steve Warren and Richard Birch.

Congratulations to the league winners:

League 1:  G Archer.

League 2: J Whitehead.

The ninth match of 2026 has been fished at Forest Lane on the Oaklands and Vale lakes.  Nice sunny day, 24C+, not too hot like last week!  Good weights all round, Vale was very prolific with 300lbs+ winning, mainly caught shallow close in, and 150lbs+ won Oaklands also mainly caught shallow.

Congratulations to the league winners:

League 1:  G Archer.

League 2: J Whitehead.

The eighth match of 2026 has been fished at Lodge Farm on the Sandmartin lake.  Very hot day, 34C+ I kept covered up and didn't feel any sun stroke etc, although drinking lots of fluids help. Lots of fish were caught in the margins, they looked like they were getting ready to spawn. Good weights all round, and the fish were very feisty.

Congratulations to the league winners:

League 1:  J Simms.

League 2: J Whitehead.

The seventh match of 2026 has been fished at Woodlands at Thirsk on the Partridge lake.  An overcast/sunny spells day, 23C and a very strong wind all day. Pole fishing was very difficult due to the wind, method feeder won the day due to the better presentation it provided.

Congratulations to the league winners:

League 1:  G Vause (actual winner - Guest: J Kent).

League 2: R spurrier.

The sixth match of 2026 has been fished at Woodhouse Grange on the Ghost lake.  A very sunny day, 33C, a light breeze to cool of us off. The fishing was excellent, the F1s fed very well shallow all day resulting in 3 weights over 250lb. Most caught on 4mm pellets 6 to 12 inches deep.

Congratulations to the league winners:

League 1:  G Archer

League 2: J Whitehead.

The fifth match of 2026 has been fished at Tolleton Ponds on the Kingfisher and Coot lakes.  A vey wet day, rained all day. The fishing was generally good, all species fed well. Most caught close in on various baits

Congratulations to the league winners:

League 1:  G Archer

League 2: R Spurrier.

The fourth match of 2026 has been fished at the Oaks Lakes on the Sycamore lake.  A cloudy, cold day for the time of year with very strong winds made it a very difficult day for the pole anglers. The fishing was slow with the fish being very finicky and not interested in feeding.

Congratulations to the league winners:

League 1:  R Birch

League 2: B Blythe.

The third match of 2026 has been fished at Lindholme on Bennys lake.  A cloudy day with some sunshine at times, but as usual the prevailing Windholme caused it's problems. The fishing in general was slow with the fish being very finicky.

Congratulations to the league winners:

League 1: B Huntington

League 2: B Hines.

The second match of 2026 has been fished at Funace Lane on the Oaklands and Arena lakes (Vale was having new platforms fitted). A cold, cloudy day with odd spells of sunshine and dark clouds which didn't open up and luckily we didn't get wet apart from a vey brief shower. The fishing in general was slow with the fish being quite finicky.

Congratulations to the league winners:

League 1: G Archer

League 2: J Whitehead.

The first match of 2026 has been fished at the Oaks lakes at Sessay. A cold, but sunny start to the day, which turned out to be a slow day for everyone where one side of the lake was cold and wearing jackets and the other side were in shorts and t shirts. The fish were reluctant to feed which resulted in a tight contest, whereby the top 4 were separated by less than 10lbs.

Congratulations to the league winners:

League 1: B Huntington

League 2: J Whitehead.
