Welcome to the 2025 season let's
hope it's better than the last one!
Welcome new member(s):
Steve Warren, Joe Greaves, Rita and Barry Bell,
Richard Spurrier.
The fourth match of 2025 has been
fished at the fabulous Oaks Lakes, Sessay on the Ash and Beech lakes.
The weather was a lot kinder than predicted, forecasts of thunder storms
and strong winds never really appeared except for a brief shower and
light winds. At
19C in the afternoon warmer than forecast also. The fishing was fairly
slow to start with and it proved a tricky day on Beech as weights had
been quite low for the venue on this lake recently. Ultimately similar
weights were achieved on both lakes and several 100 Lbs + bags. Well done to the
winners and framers...

The third match of 2025 has been
fished at Lindholme Lakes, Doncaster on Benny's lake. We have had some
rain recently after a very hot and dry spring so far, but the main
concern for this match was the predicted strong wind and so it proved. At
20C it certainly felt warm in the afternoon. The wind was making it very
difficult for everyone and 2 pole sections were broken during the match. Well done to the
winners and framers...

The second match of 2025 has been
fished at Forest Lane fishery, York on the Oaklands and Vale lakes. At
just 14C after weeks of hot, sunny weather, and a very cold northerly
wind (which blew into your face if you were on the wrong side of the
lakes), and to make matters worse, the fish had just stopped spawning.
Would it affect the fishing? The fish were slow to start on Oaklands and
they were
very reluctant to feed and when they did feed it was in short spells.
On Vale the fish that fed the most were the barbel, of which most were
still spawning . Everyone caught and had a decent day, with a special
mention to Taff Mason who had one of his best matches with the Tykes. Well done to the
winners...

The first match of 2025 at the fabulous Oaks Lakes, Sessay on the new lakes, Ash and
Beech has been fished. The weather was overcast with some sunny
intervals, and a light breeze at times. After last weeks heat wave it
was feeling a little bit colder and the mornings/evenings chillier,
would it affect the fishing? The fish were
very reluctant to feed and when they did feed it was in short spells.
They were happy to nudge your float or cruise around when the sun came
out. Everyone found it hard going for the duration of the match,
although we have to remember it's still only April. Well done to the
winners...
