Welcome to the 2024 season let's hope it's better than the last one!

Welcome new member(s):

John Simms, Allan Hodgson

The seventeenth and final round of the 2024 season has been fished at the Oaks Lakes, Sessay on the new lakes, Ash and Beech. The weather is best described as atrocious, rain, more rain and even more rain, then wind and did I mention it was very cold for September? 12C (max). The fish were slow to feed and it took at least 2 hours before the catch rate improved.  But, this venue never fails, and into the last 2 hours or so, the fish fed very well and everyone had a good last couple of hours. Well done to the winners...

Congratulations

 to the League Winners:

League 1:   G. Archer

League 2:  J. Taylor

See you in all in 2025 for another bumper fish catching season!

The sixteenth round of the 2024 season has been fished at Tollerton ponds, York on the Heron lake. The sun shone for awhile then a cool wind turned up later on. The fish were being moody and difficult to catch. Most struggled for the first 2 hours then eventually everyone started to catch, steady as you go.  Most were fishing shallow and with the sun shining this appeared to be the best tactic. The cooling wind meant that it was difficult to catch 2 fish on the trot at any time of the day. Well done to the winners...

Congratulations

 to the League Winners:

League 1:   J. Simms

League 2:  M. Hare

The fifteenth round of the 2024 season has been fished at Springvale lakes, on the Newcastle lake. The wind was a cold northernly one making it feel bitter cold, with some occasional sun and at 12C more like very late Autumn than the start of it. Some carp showed in the first hour before the fishing slowed down. The carp fed on and off but the silver fish were being very cagey. A low turnout meant empty pegs and lots of room for some, the end pegs seemed to have more fish but you still have to catch them. Well done to the winners...

Congratulations

 to the League Winners:

League 1:   B. Turner

League 2:  P. Gothard

The annual Andrew Archer memorial match has been fished at the fabulous Oaks fishery at Sessay, 23 anglers split onto Ash and Beech ponds. A cold start to the day, the fish were reluctant to feed. A run of 3 matches from Sunday to Wednesday did not help either. The fish had been moody the day before and so it continued into Thursday. Eventually they decided to have a feed and most caught reasonably well in the afternoon.

Congratulations

 to this years winner:

B. Turner

The fourteenth round of the 2024 season has been fished at Furnace Lane, on Oaklands and Vale lakes. The wind was again blowing strong, and a cloudy day at 18C. Some good sport was had by all on the Vale lake as it's very prolific with lots of small sized fish around the 1 lb mark and some decent sized fish came out of Oaklands. Unfortunately a net disqualification cost Simon a second place and some lost fish from his net cost John a top 3 place also. All lessons to be learned for the future.

Congratulations

 to the League Winners:

League 1:   G. Archer

League 2:  A. Hodgson

The thirteenth round of the 2024 season has been fished at Lindholme lakes on Benny's. As it always seems at this venue, the wind blew strong, and lived up to it's name of Windy Lindy. A drop of overnight rain and slightly cooler temperatures made the conditions more suitable for us, but the fishing was made difficult by the strong winds.  The fishing was prolific at times for some and slow for others. The wind in the face pegs had the big fish feeding close in to start. Shallow fishing was also hit and miss due to the conditions, although the F1s fed in spells and much easier to catch in the calmer pegs. Highlight of the day for me was my first fish was a near 20lb'er which took me about 20 minutes to land, almost didn't go in the net!

Congratulations

 to the League Winners:

League 1:   G. Archer

League 2:  A. Gill

The twelfth round of the 2024 season has been fished at Tollerton Ponds on the Heron lake. After a wet start the sun came out and it remained hot 26C and the forecast thunder showers never came. The fishing was slow to start and a lot of the fish were cruising round and proving difficult to catch. Some coped with the conditions better than others and a couple of ton plus weights led to a close 1-2 at the weigh in.

Congratulations

 to the League Winners:

League 1:   G. Webb

League 2:  J. Taylor

The eleventh round of the 2024 season has been fished at Springvale, Bevercotes on the Newcastle lake. A dull and breezy, but dry day, at least no rain (for a change), 23c top temperature. The breeze affected the fishing somewhat, and seemed to push a lot of the fish towards the end of the lake. Everyone caught a mixture of silvers (the tench have become one of the dominant species) and carp late on.

Congratulations

 to the League Winners:

League 1:   B. Huntington

League 2:  B. Hines

The ninth round of the 2024 season has been fished at the Aston Park Fishery on the Butts lake. A blustery day made it hard going for those with the wind blowing in front of them and for the lucky ones they had it off their backs. The fishery was having the grassed over area behind our pegs dug out to be a car park so we had constant digger noises all day to compete with. It didn't really stop the fish feeding after a slow start for most. The carp are somewhat bigger than in Bills and it was a good choice to switch ponds so we could park behind our pegs.

Congratulations

 to the League Winners:

League 1:   B. Huntington

League 2:  J. Holmes

The Eighth round of the 2024 season has been fished at the fantastic Oaks Fishery on the new lakes. Weather had cooled down a little from previous days and the fish were feeding!

This match was the annual random pairs event and the overall pairs winners and photos etc are shown on the results page...

Oaks R8 (Pairs)

Congratulations

 to the League Winners:

League 1:   G. Archer

League 2:  A. Gill

The seventh round of the 2024 season has been fished at Lodge Farm, nr Bawtry. At long last we had lovely weather, 23C, sunny day.

The fish had started spawning and were rubbing against the reeds and chasing each other around.  The fishing was difficult for most as the only fish that were feeding consistently were the ide and most of us didn't fetch maggots! it's summer afte all! A close battle for the top place, as there was only 1 oz between 1st and 2nd!

Congratulations

 to the League Winners:

League 1:   B. Huntington

League 2:  P. Gothard

The sixth round of the 2024 season has been fished at Tollerton Ponds, York, after a fish kill on the Heon lake the match was moved to the Kingfisher and Coot lakes.  A breezy, sunny day, 16C!

The fishing was slow to stat but picked up through the day. The fish are quite wise and knew were all the snags were.

Congratulations

 to the League Winners:

League 1:   B. Turner

League 2:  B. Blythe

The fifth round of the 2024 season has been fished at Bankend, Doncaster on the match lake.  An overcast day, at times breezy, 14C, but hardly any rain!

The fishing was difficult again, the fish did not seem to be bothered about feeding, especially close in. The on/off rain spells and warmer then colder weather seems to be confusing them.

Congratulations

 to the League Winners:

League 1:    G. Archer

League 2:  A. Gill

The fourth round of the 2024 season has been fished at Lindholme Lakes, Doncaster on the Benny's pond.  A windy, cloudy day, 14C, but no rain!

The stong winds made pole fishing difficult, but the big F1s still fed up in the water and on the deck on the bomb. Everyone caught in spells, and I'm sure bigger weights will come in the summer months.

Congratulations

 to the League Winners:

League 1:    G. Archer

League 2:  A. Gill

The third round of the 2024 season has been fished at Forest Lane, York on the Oakland's pond.  A windy day, sunny at times, 19C.  The big fish were getting ready for spawning, swimming around shallow in pairs and not feeding at all. This meant that we had to catch the small fish which were quite finicky to catch, not helped by the windy conditions.

Congratulations

 to the League Winners:

League 1:    G. Vause

League 2:  A. Hodgson

The second round of the 2024 season has been fished at Aston Park Fishery, Sheffield on the Bills pond.  A windy day turned into a lovely warm, sunny afternoon at 19C.  The fish were quite small and very finicky to catch, not helped by the windy conditions. Lots of line bites, and foul hookers plagued us all. You couldn't catch multiple fish for very long before they switched off and you had to find them again.

Congratulations

 to the League Winners:

League 1:    J. Simms

League 2:  B. Hines

The first round of the 2024 season has been fished at the fabulous Oaks Fishery, Sessay on the Sycamore pond. A hard overnight frost set up the day to be a difficult one, and so it was for most. Cold wind and heavy rain spoiled the afternoon. The fishing was slow for everyone, the fish would come in spurts and back off fairly quickly. Changing baits frequently to fool the fish and presentation was key to catching anything at all.

Congratulations

 to the League Winners:

League 1:    G. Archer

League 2:  M. Hare
