The eighteenth and final round of
the 2023 season has been fished at Woodlands Lakes on Partridge lake,
13C,
sunny. The fishing was
very difficult, the majority of fish were sat just under the surface not
responding to bait in any way put in front of them. This led to a
lot of foul hookers if they were in your peg they would run into your
line. I cannot explain this behaviour but we have had mid 20
temperatures then a lot of rain and a sudden drop in temperatures and
the high pressure remained. Fish can be fickle at times!

The seventeenth round of
the 2023 season has been fished at the Oaks Lakes at Sessay, on
the Ash and Beech lakes,
18C,
overcast and breezy at times. The fishing was
good as always here, some quiet spells but still lots of fish caught and
a very tight battle for winning League 1 where 3lbs separated the top 3
and just 4oz between 1st and 2nd.

The sixteenth round of
the 2023 season has been fished at Springvale lakes in Bevercotes, on
the Newcastle lake,
18C,
sunny intervals with a light wind and a very late light shower did not
spoil the fishing. The fishing was
good, when the carp didn't feed the silver fish did, so sport was
plentiful.

The Fifteenth round of
the 2023 season has been fished at Tollerton Ponds, on Heron lake,
28C,
Hot and Sunny. The fishing was
slow to start with then picked up for the last 2 hours. Foul hooking was
a problem for many.

The memorial match for Andrew has been

The Fourteenth round of
the 2023 season has been fished at Forest Lane, on Oaklands and Vale,
20C,
overcast. The fishing was
prolific on the Vale lake with several 300lbs+ weights. Oaklands was a
bit more tricky with reported problems due to foul hooking.

The thirteenth round of
the 2023 season has been fished at Woodlands Lakes, on Partridge and
Skylark,Thirsk.
26C,
overcast with some sunny intervals with a decent breeze at times. The fishing was
slow for most but at least we all had a decent last hour or so.

The twelth round of
the 2023 season has been fished at Lodge Farm fisheries on the Thistle lake.
21C,
overcast with some sunny intervals with a decent breeze at times and the
odd shower. The fishing was best described as strange, most of us
struggled to catch moody small carp. John Simms worked it out to win the
match on short pole and paste.

The Eleventh round of
the 2023 season has been fished at Springvale fisheries on the Newcastle lake.
19C,
Sunny intervals with a decent breeze at times. The fishing was mixed
with the carp not playing ball for most of us, the better pegs did catch
carp. We had a few guests on this one at the request of Bob and Geoff,
some of which may join our club which is good news for the attendance of
the southern matches.

The tenth round of
the 2023 season has been fished at Sykehouse fisheries on the New lake. 23C,
Sunny intervals with a breeze at times. The fishing was poor for the
majority of the day, the carp did not seem to want to feed for the
majority of us until the last hour and half when they went a bit mental
and caused lots of foul hooking and bust rigs.

The ninth round (and random pairs) of
the 2023 season has been fished at the fabulous Oaks Sessay on Ash and
Beech. 21C,
Sunny. After a slow start, the sport improved througout the day and
everyone caught quite well.

The eighth round of the 2023 season has been fished at
Lodge Farm fishery near Bawtry, Doncaster, on the Sandmartin lake. 25C,
Sunny and the fish were very energetic which makes a change of late. A
low turnout gave us plenty of room on one side and the fishing was
excellent with 83 lbs being the lowest weight.

The seventh round of the 2023 season has been fished at
Bankend, Doncaster, on the Match lake. 25C,
Sunny and a medium strength breeze in the afternoon made fishing
difficult for everyone. The fish were happy to bask in the sunshine and
not really wanting to feed until the afternoon when sport improved
slowly.

The sixth round of the 2023 season has been fished at

The fifth round of the 2023 season has been fished at
Swanlands fishery, Thorne near Doncaster on the Chestnut lake. 20C,
Sunny intervals/cloudy. On arrival at the fishery it was quite clear
that we were in for a long day! The fish were crashing out all over the
lake, pairing up, rubbing against the reeds etc. Yes, they were
spawning! Even though the owner had told me just 2 days ago that they
had finished spawning on chestnut, clearly got that wrong! The bright
conditions in the morning made the going hard for everyone, luckily the
cloud arrived in the afternoon and a nice cooling breeze with it. The
last hour and a half produced a run of fish for some, albeit they were
very finicky yet rewarding as they were quite big fish.

League 2:
J. Holmes
The fourth round of the 2023 season has been fished at
Lindholme lakes, near Doncaster on the Benny's lake. 18C,
mostly cloudy. A close battle in league 1 between Glenn and Brian, where
Brian Turner had 6 big fish for 60lbs in his 163lbs and Glenn had 166
lbs of shallow caught big F1s some over 5lb. Albeit the fishing
was not frantic, more of a steady day where the fish were being quite
particular at times. A special mention to Jim Holmes winning the League
2 match for the first time, well done!

G. Archer
League 2:
J. Holmes
The third round of the 2023 season has been fished at
Forest Lane, Alne near York on the Oaklands and Vale ponds. 17C,
cloudy/sunny spells with a heavy shower later on. Slow for most to start
with on Oaklands as the bigger fish were being finicky/spooky but
frantic action for all on the Vale pond.

League 1:
G. Webb
League 2:
B. Blythe
The second round of the 2023 season has been fished at
Woodhouse Grange, Doncaster on the Kennel pond. 12C, breezy which made
it feel colder than it was. Some good weights today considering the time
of year and it now seems the fish are waking up after a long winter.

The first round of the 2023 season has been fished at
the fantastic Oaks Fishery, Sessay on the Ash and Beech ponds. 9C cold,
wet and windy.
Some good weights today considering the time of year and how cold and
wet it was which made it a tough day for most with bites at a premium.
